transient
I just got back from Brooklyn where my friends and some friends of friends had a poker game. I started out badly, but came back from being down $40 to being up $125. That's poker. A game of ups and downs. A lot like life, I suppose.
When I stepped out of my friend's apartment at 1am, there was a good foot of snow on the ground and i'm sure it's not going to stop there. I walked at a hurried pace to the subway station and was dreading the wait. But I guess luck continued to be on my side even after the card game was over because the train came within a minute. Isn't that one of the top 10 feelings in the world? I guess only late night train passengers will ever understand.
So I'm home now and i've shaken off most of the snow that fell between the stitching of my jacket and the rest that landed atop my hat. I always love it when it first starts to snow. I've probably mentioned this before, but it's worth repeating. When the snow is coming down at a furious pace, the city seems to finally be at ease. No loud sirens. No cars honking. No dogs barking. Everything just... at peace. And this is the time - my time - for me to try honing into that frequency. And for a brief moment in time, I am at ease.
