saddam's new york city apartment
Most everyone by now has seen footage of the recent capture of Saddam Hussein. The U.S. media has taken the angle of portraying his capture as that of a "rat caught in his hole". They've endlessly hyped up the reverse-cinderella story of how the once lavish ruler had been reduced to living in the humiliating conditions of a small 4x6 hole in the ground, with nothing more than a small fan for ventillation.
So here's my take on all this: WHAT'S THE BIG FRIGGIN' DEAL?
Shit, that fool's "hole" is bigger than my studio! In nyc, Saddam's hole would be considered a luxury-sized apartment and would probably fetch over $1200 in Manhattan. No joke. Moreover, that fool's living in that tiny crawl space for free, whereas i'm payin' over a G for my crawl space! I believe that renders my living conditions a step below "humiliating" and more along the lines of "absurd".
For all the criticism that Saddam gets, you've gotta give him his propers for tearing the real estate market a new asshole. Hey, the man's got the right idea livin' rent-free. All us poor new yorkers should take a lesson and grab a shovel.
