charlie and the chocolate factory
remember how poor Charlie would walk by the chocolate factory and go crazy over all the wonderful smells in the air, but could do nothing about it since he was, well...poor? well i never noticed much until i started this diet last week, but on my walk to school every morning i pass by all the little carts parked along the sidewalks that sell coffee, fresh doughnuts, gyros, hot dogs, and pretzels and i empathize with what poor charlie must have gone through. yes, amazingly i've managed to make it through day 6 without cheating (or passing out). But it hasn't been easy. For example, tonight i was flipping through the channels and two hot chicks from the WWF are wearing skimpy clothing and ripping at each other's hair. Sexy, right? I was amused for about 10 seconds and clicked on until i came upon a Jimmy Dean sausage and bacon commercial and suddenly... no more clicking. our remote control batteries were dead, so we've been having to walk up to the tv and change channels manually. so here i am... on my knees, an inch from the monitor, and staring at those pork products like they were participating in a wet t-shirt contest. the succulent and plump breakfast sausages along with bacon that looks crisp AND tender. you know it's BAD when you watch hot chicks in a cat-figh for less than 10 seconds, but stare at a pork commercial for its entirety.
oh, the humanity.
i just came back from my oral argument tonight, which i've been dreading all week since the practice one went so horribly. i have no interest in trying to make moot court next year, so i just wanted to get this ordeal over with. when we finished, the judges congregated privately and then invited us back inside to critique our presentations. imagine my surprise when they didn't have a single negative thing to say about my speech. rather, they had nothing but positive comments and said that my presence stood out in front of the court and that i should really reconsider the idea of being on moot court. umm... wow. too bad i didn't even submit my written brief for consideration b/c i wanted nothing to do with it at the time. oh well, no regrets. i'm just glad it's over.
what's the weather like out here in nyc today? SNOW. and lots of it. it's been snowing non-stop since this morning and it's the middle of April! i can't fathom how it can go from 68 degrees for all of spring break, then drop off into the low 60s for a week, and then have a day like this. New York - what's up with you? all i can think of is that my friends in california are all hittin' up the beach, checkin' out the chicks who are starting to wear less and less, and i'm over here puttin' on my galoshes, overcoat, gloves and scarf trying my damndest not to slip and fall while walking.
oh, the humanity of it all.
