to live and date in ny...
A quick recap of noteworthy events over the past ten days:
I set a new personal record with 10 pints of beer in 2.5 hours! Some friends and i discovered a place in gramercy that has an unbeatable drink special on wednesday nights - all the beer you can drink in a 3 hour window for $10. And i'm not talkin' about your millers, coors, or buds. I mean the quality beer: Newcastle, Sam Adams, Guinness, Stella Artois. Unfortnately, soon after we left i lost it all over the 6 train on the way home. Oh, i lost it again on the platform while waiting to transfer over to the 4/5. Umm.. and 2 more times at home. But i got my money's worth!!! (and a nasty hangover the next day).
So the date with the dominican chick last week went pretty well. Having no car out here, it's amusing that i now "pick up" my dates by waiting for them near the turnstyle at their subway stop. The japanese food was alright, but despite my best efforts to choose a place that fit my student lifestyle budget, the bill still came out to be over fifty-bucks! She offered to pay for dessert, which was nice, so we went to this fondue cafe and ordered up some melted chocolate, strawberries and bananas and took turns feeding each other. Afterwards, she ended up dragging us into a $5 palm reading joint, but the gimmick was that the $5 was only to have them tell you your personality. If you wanted the good stuff - your future, love, etc. - it was $20 for the tarot cards and $30 to have your palm read. GoOo! She went ahead with the tarot cards while i watched from behind. This place was definitely on the shady side. We were in the hallway of some basement apartment off the street; very dark, babies crawling around in their diapers crying, t.v. set on too loud, pizza delivery guy barging in during the middle of the reading... the whole thing was straight outa COPS. Apparently there was some miscommunication (read: hustle) because the gypsy *ahem*, I mean psychic engineer, charged her $50 total! Needless to say, i opted not to go despite her enticing offer of enlightening my wallet *ahem*, i mean me. Afterwards we went for a walk along the waterfront, talked, walked her to the subway and kissed her goodnight. Bottom line with the date was that i didn't feel any spark there, but i think she was more into me than i was into her. I bumped into her again, so we talked for a bit and she gave me a lil' sugar as we said goodbye. Man, i don't want to lead her on cos' i hate having to clean up this sort of mess later.
Finally, i decided to run for an executive chair position with a student organization this week. I ran for a VP position, which was stacked with the most competition - 4 people running. But somehow i managed to pull in enough votes and won. I always thought these things were cheezy and i always had to laugh at these clowns in high school and college that took these positions seriously, but what the hey. At least it'll look good on my resume.
Alright, time to start the day. Lakers over Kings in 7, first round.
