my first blog

I've decided to become (no, wait...I AM) one of the many vain individuals out there that can't seem to get enough attention. And so from this vanity a new website is born. I flew into JFK from cali last night and took the A-train all the way back to brooklyn heights. Carrying around all that luggage is hard enough without having your body feel like it's gotten the shit kicked out of it. Yup, on my 2nd to last day at home i came down with a nasty flu. I'm guessing it stems from getting 3 hours sleep before a snowboarding trip to big bear. At any rate, it was a great trip home and i feel like i got to do most everything i wanted, despite not having my own car anymore. I spent the first few days visiting my grandma, then hit up san diego for travis' "guys night out", which included chunks of meat over flames, cold beer and a night of shootin' the shit about girls and episodes of jackass on tape. I also got to spend some time with Dan in LA and he took me to the "Grove" in downtown where we checked out all the new shops and enjoyed brazilian food at the nearby farmer's market. There was also this japanese tea garden in west la that he took me to where we spent some time catching up over some fruitily named tea. Some of the other sights i got to experience while back home include: Roscoe's, Malibu, West Hollywood, Miyagi's, Saddleback Ranch(the rib joint that you've seen anna nicole ride the bull at), Diddy Riese Cookies, Todd's fat new pad right in the heart of W. Hollywood, Bandar, La Posta and of course, the starbucks in costa verde plaza where bill shin and i inevitably end up every visit.

I got to see several movies while back home - gangs of new york, 25th hour and vanilla sky. The best of these was probably 25th hour and the biggest disappointment was gangs. What a big-budget flop! I don't think it was so much the script or Scorcese's directing as it was trying to buy into leonardo dicaprio's playing an irish gang leader. C'mon! The only bright spot during this three-hour tragedy was Daniel Day-Lewis' performance. Needless to say i don't encourage any of you to waste $10 on this film, despite Scorcese's association to it.

Christmas was spent with the fam over a big turkey dinner that my lil' sister prepared from scratch. Gotta say, i was impressed. I spent NYE at what turned out to be a pretty big party at travis' pad. Got to see a lot of familiar faces from the past and met some new ones. There were definitely some memorable moments that came from that night. For instance, Travis, being sobriety-challenged, kept making improper sexual gestures while i was talkin' to that asian chick with the nice rack & pinion steering he was trying to hook me up with. Ah well.

So now that i'm well rested and recharged, it's back to the books. Gotta get readjusted to the 20 degree highs, snow and mindless jaywalking that is new york.
